Support the inaugural cohort

Fund the first ones.

Game for America runs on philanthropic capital. Every gift — whether $25 or $250,000 — funds a specific piece of the inaugural cohort: a fellow seat, a host engagement, an open-source component, or the program infrastructure that makes the rest possible.

Game for America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with its application pending. Until IRS approval, donations are processed through our fiscal sponsor, [SPONSOR NAME]. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Give online

Credit card, ACH, or recurring.

The fastest path: a one-time or monthly donation through our fiscal sponsor’s donation processor. Recurring monthly gifts make the most difference for a nonprofit in formation — they let us plan.

One-time or monthly

Choose an amount below to pre-fill the form, or enter your own. Recurring monthly gifts can be cancelled any time.

Processed by Every.org

Or set up a recurring monthly gift. Every.org charges no platform fee — 100% reaches us minus payment-processing costs.

Other ways to give

Beyond the credit card.

For larger gifts, planned giving, or non-cash assets, these options are usually more tax-efficient and produce a larger net contribution.

Way 01

Donor-advised fund (DAF)

Recommend a grant from your DAF at Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or similar, with us as the beneficiary.

Way 02

Appreciated securities

Gifting stock, ETFs, or mutual fund shares that have appreciated lets you deduct full fair-market value and avoid capital-gains tax. Often nets the org 15–30% more than equivalent cash.

Way 03

Wire transfer / ACH

For gifts of $25,000 or more, a wire or ACH transfer is often the cleanest path. We’ll send routing instructions and a gift acknowledgment that meets IRS substantiation requirements.

Where the money goes

Transparency, plainly.

We don’t have a Form 990 yet because we haven’t been operating long enough to file one. We do have a real budget, a real fiscal sponsor, and a commitment to publish everything once we have it to publish.

Fiscal sponsor

[SPONSOR NAME] holds and disburses funds on our behalf during the 501(c)(3) application period. Their financials are public.

EIN

[Pending] — we’re mid-application. Donations process through the fiscal sponsor’s EIN until approval.

State of incorporation

[STATE] nonprofit public benefit corporation. Registered agent address available on request.

Program vs overhead

Year-1 budget allocates ~85% to programs (fellow stipends, mentors, host support) and ~15% to operations and fundraising.

Annual report

Published every February covering the prior fiscal year. The first one will appear here in early 2027.

Form 990

Will be filed and published here once we have a fiscal year of audited financials. Estimated availability: 2028.

Donor questions.

Anything else? Email hello@gameforamerica.org.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Because our 501(c)(3) application is pending, donations are currently processed through our fiscal sponsor, [SPONSOR NAME], which is a qualified 501(c)(3). The sponsor issues the tax acknowledgment letter. We’ll update this page when our own determination letter is issued.

Can I restrict my gift to a specific program or fellow?

For gifts of $25,000 or more, yes — we can structure restricted gifts that fund a specific fellow seat, impact area, or open-source component. Restrictions are documented in a written gift agreement. For smaller gifts, we ask that you give unrestricted — it’s where our team gets the most leverage.

What does it mean that you’re “in formation”?

The organization is incorporated as a [STATE] nonprofit and has filed (or is filing) Form 1023 with the IRS to obtain 501(c)(3) status. Approval typically takes 6–12 months. During that period we operate under a fiscal sponsor, which handles charitable receipts and certain legal aspects while we build out our own infrastructure.

Do you accept anonymous gifts?

Yes. You can choose not to be listed in our donor recognition materials, or to be listed only at a certain level without a name. We’re still legally required to keep your information on file for tax and audit purposes.

Is my information shared with anyone?

No. We don’t sell, trade, or rent donor data. Our complete privacy policy covers the details.

Can I get a refund if I make a mistake?

Yes, within 30 days of the donation date. Email hello@gameforamerica.org and we’ll process the refund through whichever channel you originally used.

What if I want to give but can’t right now?

That’s genuinely okay. Subscribing to our updates, sharing our work with one person who might be a fit (as a fellow, host, or studio partner), or sending us a thoughtful intro is often more valuable than a small gift. Time and attention are real contributions.
